"Everythung he thought he never needed"
Every man needs a really good watch and these days many a natty dresser has more than one. You couldn’t go wrong with an Officini Panerai (£1,700-£2,500) from Watches of Switzerland (originally designed for the Italian navy (which has a certain cachet, or a Franck Muller at Marcus (£5,000-500,000). But for something more individual, buy vintage - Tiffany in New York sell limited edition watches that not only look great but will be an investment for the future. Keep an eye on auctions where there are bargains to be had. For a specialist source, however, it would be hard to beat Tom Bolt. He cruises auctions for the best vintage watches and, if you want something special, he will do the scouting for you.
