Rolex discovered that if they used a rectangular case rather than round they could incorporate a larger mainspring and balance wheel and place them at opposite ends, this enabled the watch to have more momentum and run for longer periods of time without winding as well as making it the most accurate wristwatch of that period. Prince cases came in two guises, the standard straight sided and the more expensive flared ''Brancard''. Ironically the steel versions were more costly than the silver cased ones due to the difficulty of working with the material thus fewer examples were produced and are now highly desired by collectors for this reason. Dress watches though still seriously undervalued are undergoing somewhat of a resurgence at the moment and it is only a matter of time before their prices increase dramatically.
